This print is the product of working alongside two of my biggest influences: Shepard Fairey and Cleon Peterson, as evident in the marriage of the techniques, aesthetic, and color scheme use. As an artist, one of my favorite things to do is to take a beautiful subject and juxtapose it with sinister elements. Another constant thread in my work is the inclusion of musical elements. One of my favorite bands is Thrice and their song “The Arsonist” was the driving force behind this piece. The lyrics speak of rebirth, revolution, and rising from the ashes to rebuild from scratch.
