Womb 18x24

Two people inspired this print, Tupac, and Barbara Kruger.

Barbara Krugers, "Your Body Is A Battleground"  The positive and negative split of a woman's face with the bold type running across it has always resonated with me. I channeled that sentiment in this piece. Women's rights have been a topic of conversation ever since the trump administration took office. The fact that in 2018 women are still fighting for equal rights and men are still trying to tell them what they can and can't do with their bodies is disheartening.

An excerpt from Tupac's song "Keep Ya Head Up" is the second inspiration for this piece.

"When brothas make babies and leave a young mother to be a pappy

And since we all came from a woman
Got our name from a woman and our game from a woman
I wonder why we take from our women
Why we rape our women, do we hate our women?
I think it's time to kill for our women
Time to heal our women, be real to our women
And if we don't we'll have a race of babies
That will hate the ladies, that make the babies
And since a man can't make one
He has no right to tell a woman when and where to create one
So will the real men get up
I know you're fed up ladies, but keep your head up"

I agree with Pac, women should be praised! not oppressed! because if it wasn't for them, none of us would be here. They are the givers of life and they truly are the future.
