Back in March I was invited to participate in this years Pow!Wow! Long Beach festival. It was hard for me to keep it a secret since the festival didn't start until the end of June! Besides excitement dread quickly set in. "Omg this is my first mural on one of the biggest mural festivals in the world. Am I ready? Can I actually do this? Am I worthy?" Hell yeah I was!Once I got my wall, I knew i had to bring it. My first studio apartment was 3 blocks away from the wall. I would drive by it everyday on my way to work. I paid for monthly parking in the lot behind the building. I married my wife just 5 blocks away. So the whole area holds a sentimental place in my heart. And to be able to leave my mark in the neighborhood is amazing.
I was lucky enough to have my friends Rob and Dan, who are part of Shepards mural crew come out and lend their expertise. They truly gave me the confidence that I could finish and that I could do this on my own. We finished the mural in 12 hours! 6am to 6pm. I'd like to thank them, Andres, Michael, and James for all the help. And a big thank you to Takotah, Dani and the rest of the Pow! Wow! Team!
