The abstract result of playing with light and shadow is always exciting for me. I've always loved those two-tone optical illusions that had a double image in them, like a table in the negative space but upon the second glance, you see the two faces facing each other. I tried to achieve a similar effect with this piece. The head-on shot and the abstract profile view of the woman's face. Whichever way you see it they're both expressing the same emotion.
